“The mural depicts the portrait of what appears to be an oil worker. Stavanger is known for its rich oil driven economy, that in recent years has started to weaken.
On one hand we have the figure on the left, a meticulously depicted portrait painted against a background showing a modern and prosperous city.
The figure on the right on the other hand seems to vanish and become part of the background, and so does the landscape behind him. The pavement at their feet has been destroyed. There is no longer a stable ground to stand on.”

Who Is Strøk?

Anders Gjennestad aka Strøk is a Norwegian street artist from Arendal, currently based in Berlin, Germany. He is known for his multi-layered stencil work that contains extraordinary details. His stencils are mostly based on his own photographs. Strøk likes to recreate the photographic visuals on new surfaces such as decaying ruins of factory walls or rusted metal.
Allegedly, Strøk often chooses not to sign his outdoor works by any name, stating “that it is not important to him if people know the identity of the artist as much as it is important for them to feel something in front of his work”.

Who Is Dolk ?

Dolk Lundgren, or simply Dolk (Norwegian for dagger), is a Norwegian stencil artist.
He has education from mechanic courses in Bergen, Norway where he was born. He also studied graphic design in Melbourne.
Early in his career, it was speculated that Dolk was a pseudonym for the famous street artist Banksy. It was even assumed, due to some stylistic similarities, that Dolk was an outlet for Banksy’s less challenging, more fun works.
Dolk’s works can be seen at walls in cities like Bergen, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Berlin, London, Barcelona, Lisbon and Melbourne.
